Control Traffic with a Stop-Slow Bat

This unit of competency addresses the skills and knowledge required to control traffic with stop-slow bat

in the Resources and Infrastructure industries and is appropriate for those working in operational roles.

 

Duration: Full course – 8 hours of face-to-face theoretical training, 20 workplace-based logged hours, while being fully supervised by a workplace based fully licenced traffic controller, and final practical assessment conducted on a live worksite (Variable timeframe).

 

Refresher course – 8 hours theoretical training, to be eligible to attend refresher training an applicant must present a current traffic controller licence and submit a currency of industry practice (COIP) form with 32hrs of industry experience listed, with supporting evidence. If these parameters cannot be met the applicant will be required to sit the full traffic controller course as per the information above.

 

Course Cost: Full course - $552.00 per participant. Refresher course - $398.00 per participant.

Outcome: On successful completion of all training and assessment requirements, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for RIIWHS205E Control traffic with a stop-slow bat, RIIWHS201E Work Safely and Follow WHS Policies and Procedures and RIICOM201E Communicate in the Workplace (If Applicable). 

 

Requirements:

 

  • Applicants must have held a driver’s licence in the last five years

  • All participants are required to provide photo identification (eg. driver's licence, firearms licence, passport)

  • All participants must hold a current Construction Industry White Card or equivalent

  • You must also bring your Unique Student Identifier (USI). We are unable to generate your certification without this. If you do not have a USI, please create one at https://www.usi.gov.au/students/create-your-usi

  • Current employment in the resources and infrastructure industry to accumulate required logged hours

  • Criminal History checks are conducted by the Department of Transport and Main Roads on all applications received for a Traffic Controller authority card/licence

  • Additional fee required by the Department of Transport and Main Roads to obtain licence
